Salads
Salads are preparations that consist mainly of various vegetables. In Mediterranean cuisine, they are served cold as a side dish.
Over 2,000 years ago vegetables were seasoned with vinegar and olive oil before eating by the ancient Persians. The wars with the Roman Empire brought this tradition to Europe, where it underwent changes over time.
Originally, the word salad comes from the Latin "salata" and means salted. Accordingly, salads are with salt-preserved foods.
Tarama is a Greek side dish that is made from fish roe.
